When I was binge eating, it wasn’t that I didn’t want to feel my feelings—I just didn’t know how to be with them without getting swallowed whole. Every time I tried, it felt like too much. And every time it felt like too much, the bingeing swept in to help.
In this episode, we explore what happens when you don’t pressure yourself to sit in your feelings forever, but instead take just a small dip. Not a deep dive. Not a cannonball. Just a moment to be with what’s present—before coming back up for air.
We can have parts of ourselves that get spooked by the prospect of feeling. Sometimes these parts have been trying to keep us steady and able to get through the day. Often, these parts are told to just “feel it and move on.” Sometimes this confrontation works. But other times it creates overwhelm or additional difficult emotions, and the bingeing steps in to cool things down. There’s another way. Listen to Episode 84 to learn more.
