San Fransisco based Ricky Watts has been working his way to his current artistic practice for many years and through many different forms of art making. From his early days writing graffiti into years of academic study of design, illustration, and architecture he somehow worked his way into focusing on abstract work. His whirling compositions of undulating colors twisting in and out of themselves are both precisely thought out and pre planned and totally loose and freestyled in the moment. We sat down with Ricky during his week long collaborative mural with VantagePoint’s very own JB at the Pow Wow festival in Hawaii to learn all about where he’s been and where he’s going.
