Natascha Kampusch, an Austria native who lived with her family in a suburb of Vienna, Austria, was abducted by a stranger named Wolfgang Přiklopil on March 2, 1998. For 8 ½ years she was held captive in a custom built cellar Wolfgang Přiklopil’s house and “thought only of escape” during her entire time imprisoned. She escaped on August 23, 2006, and has since written a book, 3096 days, describing her ordeal.
