The Simply Vegan podcast is your weekly dose of plant-based food, news and topical chat with Vegan Food & Living's Holly Johnson and Molly Pickering.
***TRIGGER WARNING: TALK OF ANIMAL ABUSE AND ATTEMPTED SUICIDE***
This week, we delve into the emotional side of veganism, discussing online hate, public opinion of activism and feelings of despair with the lack of progress, but also hope for the future and a sense of togetherness when fighting for a cause you believe in.
In part 2, we talk to JH Burnett, who took over his family's farm to become a sheep farmer. From day one, JH felt uncomfortable about some of the farming practises and within three months he had stopped eating meat. He tells us about the meat-loving culture in South Africa, how he coped with the emotional trauma of having to continue to farm due to his financial situation, his failed attempts to turn it into a sanctuary and the poignant moment he became a vegan activist.
NEWS! NEWS! NEWS! We have launched a new weekly show called Something For The Weekend – a short and sweet episode packed with cooking inspiration for your weekend meals. Tune in every Friday morning for this extra, bonus episode of your favourite plant-based podcast.
