No time to muck around today, because Ox has two 'I Don't Want to be a Hero' stories. The first one a long bow. Something about a heater not working, we're not sure, we only half-listened. But the second, holy hell the second story.......Ox was an actual hero in this one, helping a little old lady who'd been in a dreadful car accident in Geelong. You have to hear it - it will blow your mind.
Speaking of heroes. Is there an update on Markos' effort to fix the basketball court net issue? We find out if the council called Mark back, they said that they would, do they keep their promise? And Marko had homework to arrange basketball superstar Andrew Gaze to come on the show, which he hasn’t done for a month, so Ox takes control and decides to call Gazey live on the pod. During the chat, where Gazey agrees with Marko's concerns, Ox and Marko decide to launch a campaign to fix it. Ox comes up with a slogan ’Net Regret’, and then changes it to ‘Don’t Forget the Net’. Marko has a merch idea. Gazey is into it, but maybe he’s just being polite.
On a side note, that radio show Gazey does called 'The Run Home' has really improved over the last couple of years.
But back to the show - the boys have a chat on slogans. Ox is the king of slogans and can come up with some absolute rippers off the cuff; Marko remembers Ox’s famous bowel cancer slogan ‘when in doubt, get your bum checked out’. They kick around a few slogan ideas and put Ox to the test.
Ox has a new business idea. Not one of his best unfortunately. But you might disagree.
Plenty of feedback. Ox has been copping some heat, and the boys read out what you’ve been saying. The face and neck tattoo civil selfishness comments made by Ox got mixed feedback. Mark tells a story about a guy he played junior footy with who had a tattoo just above his schlong. It is a shocking tattoo, can't even write here what it says as we'll lose our podcast license.
Ox and Marko chat to Darren the Banker who has a bone to pick with Ox over an error in a recent podcast. Ox doubles down on his comments, until he googles it….at which point he realises he might have got it wrong. Awkward.
Given the appalling jokes the boys have been tossing up lately, Mark decides to invite Darren to tell the joke today, surprise surprise, Darren tells a ripper that really does show how bad Ox and Marko have been. We might need to drop this segment.
