Big news this week with Nick O'Hern snagging an Ace last week in the Wagga Pro-Am, we start the show by finding out what happened. To be fair we probably couldn't have stopped Nick telling us as he basks in his well deserved moment. Very exciting, and capped off a wonderful trip to Wagga for Nick!
Tigers new clothing line is out, and the comments online are brutal. Nick and Mark give their thoughts, and they're not positive.
Mark talks through the controversy at 13th Beach Golf Club, who we spoke to a couple of weeks ago on the pod. Three members have played a prank to highlight their views on the new female membership fee structure, leading to a suspension. The membership is divided, Mark says that a petition for change has momentum.
Nick watched some of the final individual LIV event of the year and explains how the promotion/relegation system works, and those players currently in the danger zone. We discuss the captains exemption, we're unsure if it still is in place. If not, is Bubba in trouble? We have a Voicemail on rakes in bunkers, asking whether we even need rakes. Nick and Mark both have a strong view.
After the turn, we chat about the Irish Open. Nick loved it and talks through some of the key moments. Mark loves watching golf at Royal County Down, and would love to visit one day. Thanks to Southern Golf Club, this leads into Marks Top 5 - the Top 5 Irish courses that he'd love to play, by name only as he's never been there. And Nick tells us the Irish course that he has a picture of on his wall at home.
Nick and Mark decide they want to get Nicks old caddy Wilbur on for a bonus pod, and they explain what 'chiselling' is in the caddy world. Plenty to discuss in the PING global results, starting with the Solheim Cup, but plenty more to discuss - including the winner of the Wagga Pro-Am!

Then just before the turn, Mark 'food-shames' Dan for eating a small sausage roll, even though he is hoovering down a massive milkshake. Not sure how, but this then leads to a chat about Top Golf on the Gold Coast and in the US.
Next question. Dave has written in and asked about how courses get their Royal status, and how they keep it.
And we wrap up the pod with a ripper question from Chris about how Nick and Mark handled being out of form, and what they did to work through the slump.

A fascinating bonus pod today. Earlier this week we were recording the normal pod and we spotted Jordan Bovalina in the cafe at Golf Australia HQ, never let it be said that we miss an opportunity to talk to Australia's leading long driver at the last World Long Driving Championships, so we hit him for a chat and sure enough he came back to sit down with Nick and Mark.
Jordan chats to us about where the power in his drive comes from, the kind of gym work he does to get in shape for that style of driving, and gives some tips on what you can do to drive the ball a little longer. He tells us how the World Long Driving Championship works, the scoring system, and how he went.
He also tells us about his favourite driver, and wouldn't you know it, it's a PING driver....of course it is !
And he tells us a great story about some veeeeery long-term planning at Augusta.

This week we kick off with Nick and Mark discussing the Scheffler/Rory McIlroy vs Koepka/DeChambeau, Mark is excited about the prospect, Nick will watch the highlights.
We chat about the first couple of LIV tournaments next year, Adelaide is second and Riyadh is first....unhelpfully none of us know where Riyadh is or how to spell it...so we muddle through and figure it out together.
Nick and Mark discuss the Presidents Cup teams, and Nick believes there are some players harshly done by - Cam Davis the obvious one for him. Both Nick and Mark believe the Presidents Cup would be better if the teams were mixed Men and Women. Mark reckons that if the internationals get 'pummelled' again, it can't continue as the Cup will have become a laughing stock.
They name who would be their international team were it mixed.
Mark then, jokingly (we think), says that if Bernhard Langer keeps playing we'll end up with a Weekend at Bernies situation. As we go to The Turn, we discuss seeing Australian young gun Jordan Bovalina in the cafe at Golf Australia Headquarters, and decide to hit him up for a chat. He can't today as it is his girlfriend's birthday, but we lock in a time to chat later this week....bonus pod on the way. Nick and Mark are amped over last weeks Cam Smith news that he will be playing the NSW Open at Murray Downs in November, so much so that we start the show by calling Golf NSW COO Graeme Phillipson to ask him how it happened, and how Golf NSW pulled off such a fantastic get. Great chat, and some fantastic insights into the process, and what it now means for the NSW Open.
We discuss the Fedex Cup final round, and the win (sort of) by Scottie Scheffler. Mark is annoyed that one of the commentators described it as a wire to wire win when it clearly wasn't, Nick agrees. We discuss if it counts as a win given the way the final was structured. And Nick talks through Scheffler's shank in the final round. And we talk about the Sahith Theegala incident in the bunker and the self-reporting that cost him a lazy 2.5 million.
Nick starts telling us about an unfortunate incident he had in Abu Dhabi where he self-reported, which is interrupted when the hotline rings, and it's Talk Birdie Wolfpack member Sammy J from Melbourne who has a couple of comments on women's golf participation, and diversity more broadly in golf. He makes some excellent points, and then undoes all his good work by telling us a joke that he thinks Marko will enjoy. Mark does, Nick and Dan do not.
Back to Nick's Abu Dhabi story, and then Mark tells a cracker about Craig Parry and Nick Faldo playing in Bali. It's very funny, although not for Sir Nick who was leading by a boatload when disaster struck, courtesy of Craig Parry.
After the turn, Nick gives us a great Scottie Scheffler stat. Then, thanks to our mates at Southern Golf Club, Mark lists his Top 5 weird stuff in the golf swings of some champions. Nick has watched the Lee Trevino documentary at the weekend, Mark is horrified that Nick was out of the lounge room making a coffee and missed the best part!
A fun story about PING's Bubba Watson from Nick, and Mark talks about the 'flags' at Augusta. Lots to run through in the PING Global results from Nick, and Nick names what hole at what course is the hardest tee shot in the world of golf.
