Massive episode of Talk Birdie To Me today, in fact our longest episode so far. Could be because Mark consistently derailed the pod, but it could be that there was lots of stuff to talk about. Truth is probably somewhere in the middle.

Nick has come in worked up over slow play after watching the Desert Classic in California and the Dubai Desert Classic at the weekend. Mark agrees and is amazed when Nick tells him the durations of some of the rounds. Nick gives his view again that stroke penalties should be introduced. Mark has three things he'd like to see happen that he feels will address slow play instantly. Nick's big beef is that the players are allowed to get away with it and the time limits are not being policed.

In the Desert Classic, William Mouw shot 13 on a par 5, Nick saw it, Mark didn't - but it was what happened on the next hole that Nick found even more amusing.

Mark mentions a major award Australia's OCM have won in the US for their work on the Medinah course near Chicago. Mark tells a story about him and Mike Clayton playing with a young kid from Queensland called Adam Scott at Cranbourne, and after seeing his first hole thinking he was rubbish.....but Adam then went on to blow them both away. Mark talks about how Adam was 'using the force' with his putting.

We discuss Brandel Chamblee's tweet this week criticising LIV. Nick raises Rory McIlroy's chat with young Tom McKibbin about going to LIV or not.

Top 5 from Mark is on the most disastrous holes ever. Plenty of feedback, including feedback from a tour pro giving one of our illustrious hosts a whack around the choppers. Very funny.

PING Global with Nick is nearly derailed by Mark who has discovered AI this week and has been creating 'songs'. Unfortunately, he plays a few, and decides he wants to finish the pod by playing one in full - feel free to turn off when you get to that part.

Aaaand we're back for 2025. How you doing? Good break? You look relaxed. Have you done something with your hair? Very nice.

But back to the pod. We're live from Titleist and Footjoy HQ, where we'll be pretty much most weeks from now, very exciting. He asks 'what is going on at Golf Australia' and reiterates that the 'experiment' is surely over. If Nick and Mark had their way there would be either no Open in 2025, moving to February 2026, or hold one late this year and a second almost right away in February. We discuss the comments from Cam Smith and Matt Jones last week. Mark suggests March 1 is a good deadline to have clarity from Golf Australia.

We chat about the TGL, Nick loves the venue, and he talks about the best driving range he ever saw in the US.

Last week LIV golfer Eugenio López-Chacarra had a red hot crack at LIV for not delivering to him what they said they would. We discuss. Tissues at the ready, and small violins, it's very sad.

Nick talks about a possible format change for the PGA Tour Championship, he outlines his proposed format, and Mark counter-proposes his. We discuss matchplay vs strokeplay, which leads to a chat about the Australian Amateur event this week.

Nick names the Tour Pro who has 'the worst grip on tour', and talks to rumours that he has been adjusting his swing in the offseason.

We have big news for Talk Birdie To Me....which we chat about just prior to the Turn. Exciting!
