Couple of Blokes

Ep35: Ox's New Look, Tinder, Laundromats & Falling Asleep at the Movies

Listen Later

Today on a beautiful sunny day we're at the Rising Sun Hotel in South Melbourne, we're next to the window, and we've opened it up to let a fantastic breeze in. Beers, breeze and sunshine - does it get any better? Okay the odd truck drives past, but you can't have everything.

The Ox has decided that he needs to schmick up his appearance. He wants to dress well and look sharp, but reckons he needs a new look, and enlists Marko to help out. Marko outlines his proposed 'urban cool' look for The Ox. As an addition, Ox decides that his teeth have to get sharpened up as well. Ox suggests that he might also get a #5 necklace to take advantage of the #5 Demons aura. Marko decides to storyboard the look for The Ox. More to come.

The Ox has had some feedback on Producer Dan, specifically that he has a boring name. His mates have suggested a new name for Dan, who is not impressed. Highly unlikely the name will stick. Whilst on the topic, Marko is unsure whether they can be friends with Dan anymore after something he has recently done. The Ox is is vigorous agreement, and Dan is lined up. Might be a case of workplace bullying tbh. Either way Ox and Marko decide they can't be friends with Dan anymore.

Marko discovers what the Don McLean song American Pie is about, he never knew it was about a plane crash. The Ox is horrified that Marko doesn't know. Marko reckons the song is average and he could write a better song. Big call.

Then things get serious when Marko has a crack at The Ox over his lack of delivery of Wayne Carey, and suggesting that a shoulder reco doesn't impact the Ducks ability to talk. The Ox continues to make excuses. He's a disgrace. The Ox counters with a crack at Marko over not getting Ricky Ponting. Also disgraceful.

The Ox has a new business idea - TinderMat. A cross between Laundromats and Tinder. The boys love it. It's an awful idea. But what do you think? We'll do a poll and get to the bottom of it. Marko also thinks that the fruit and vegetable section of the supermarket is a good 'pick up' area. He then tells a story about looking in the shopping trolley of an internationally famous person, and outlines what was in their trolley.

We have the results of our poll on which is more popular: Coco Pops vs Fruit Loops. Both Ox and Marko had strongly differing views - but the poll doesn't lie. The Couple of Blokes, Couple of Beers family have spoken overwhelmingly in favour of one option, and one of the boys is unimpressed.

Lots of feedback this week as usual, keep it coming, the boys love it ! A heap of comments on Marko's orange jumper. One listener with eagle eyes has noticed something about Markos watch.

We chat to listener Mark who wants to pick up The Ox on a comment he made a couple of weeks ago about Pennsylvania saying that the state was famous for making pencils. Mark gives us a long list of things that it is actually famous for, unsurprisingly pencils don't make the list. Then we find out how Marko graduated American history with straight A's despite going to only one class.

Marko is horrified by comments The Ox makes about the classic movie Philadelphia.
