Don't Blame The Mom

EP36: The Menendez Brothers Part 1

Listen Later

Crime talk timestamp-10:02 They were rich, preppy, well educated & had promising lives full of potential ahead of them .
But both Lyle & Erik Menendez claim that their picture perfect childhood was all a facade which hid some extremely dark truths…. Despite growing up in Beverly Hills amid immense wealth & privilege, behind this affluent family life was a shocking story of sexual, emotional, physical abuse & incest, creating fear & terror that continued behind closed doors for years .
The household was ruled by their powerful & dominant father Jose who they say spent years abusing & terrorising his two sons .
The boys plight went ignored by their mother Kitty who turned her attention & affection towards her animals rather than her children . When the constant abuse became too much for the Menendez brothers they joined together & finally hatched a plan. Walking into the family house one august evening they blasted their parents to death . After 2 lengthy trials they were sentenced to life without parole & left behind bars largely forgotten about as their case became something of the past. But Now after serving more than 33 years in prison, more evidence has amazingly come to light which backs up the story Lyle And Erik tried telling everyone all those years ago .
A revealing letter emerges that had been sent from a young Erik to his cousin.
And then another victim, an ex boyband member speaks out . Roy Rosello was ready to tell his own story coming forward to say he too was raped by alleged paedofile Jose Menendez as a child .
So now the important questions have to be asked….Do the Menendez brothers deserve to have their lifelong sentences vacated & perhaps finally taste a chance of freedom?
Do they deserve to be given another court case with all this new strong evidence showing they acted in “imperfect self defence “? It shows if all these allegations against their father are true they should have only been found guilty of manslaughter which means they would be free by now .
Was their motive of killing their parents after years of abuse one that now makes more sense with all the evidence shining a light on it ? Have the brothers paid their dues after 33 years of being locked up and do they perhaps deserve another chance another shot at life outside the prison gates?
Or are they really just cold blooded killers, motivated to murder so they could go on a spending spree as the prosecution led people to believe ?
We are about to get right into the unbelievable twists & turns of this infamous & actually really sad case.
