Big show today, and we kick off with a chat about swearing and one specific word. A bit loose, but possibly driven by the that Ox has come in with a massive hangover after drinking a thousand beers last night with a mate who was heading overseas. He's murdering some hangover food during the pod, and his voice is a bit worse for wear. Unprofessional, but not surprising.
Last week on the show The Ox decided that he wanted an apology from his Mum Mary for buying him a Bumblebee bike when he was a kid. So Marko has arranged, without Ox's knowledge, to call Mary on the show today and put it to her. We'll call her shortly.
Given Ox's hangover, we discuss what are Ox and Marko's go to hangover feeds. Ox's is KFC, and he reveals that he has cracked the code of the herbs and spices. Marko admits that he had KFC in the car on the way to the pod today. Ox says he will reveal the recipe if the family want to know. He's also tried the recipe on Mushrooms and Cauliflower and reckon it works a treat.
Ox then reveals why he likes the Bangles Eternal Flame so much, and it has to do with some fun he once had in a Ford Laser in 1988 with a lady called Lesley. Mark then reveals his first 'car pash' which ends up in complete disarray. Ox tells a story about Susannah Hoffs and Eternal Flame that he has told 100 times, and Marko always forgets.
Mark reminds Third Man about homework that he had to arrange a full service servo bloke to come on the pod and have a chat. It didn't go well.
Marko has a First World Problem that he wants to discuss, and it has to do with his wife Trish. There is trouble in paradise and Trish cannot know about this, so Marko requests the cone of silence be lowered - which is a rock solid way to ensure his comments remain in the cone and are never discussed again. It's a big issue, and Marko needs advice. As usual, Ox has some advice for Marko.
Ox also has a First World Problem, to do with pedestrian crossings at traffic lights. Hard to disagree with him. He has a technique that he is using which solves the issue, possibly illegal, but effective. Third Man has a question for Ox and Marko to do with pedestrians and puddles.
Okay, time to call Mary about Ox's request for an apology. Marko is on team Mary and doesn't believe an apology is appropriate. Does Ox back down in the face of Mary, or does he hold his position? One thing's for certain - Mary arcs up and has plenty of stories about Ox when he was a kid and absolutely gives Ox a rinsing on a number of issues, which is very funny. But did Mary apologise ? Find out on the pod.
And Mary explains how the infamous Eddie McGuire conversation went after her son was hit in the face with a pie on the Footy Show. Very funny.
Some feedback from the family - keep it coming we love it. We wrap up the show with a Mum joke, inspired by Ox's beautiful Mum Mary.
We'd love you to follow a Couple of Blokes, and get involved with the show on social media: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and TikTok. If you've got a comment or feedback, feel free to send a voicemail to Ox and Marko here. And don't forget to subscribe, rate and review the podcast wherever you listen!
