Epic Every Day

God's relational, not just informational, and he, through becoming a man, transforms our pasts and futures from the inside out. Throughout history God has been telling men how his redemption will work and finally in Jesus, God plays out the mechanics of redemption. Because God's not just interested in changing our lives—he wants to change our day too.

It's easy to get overpowered by busy and overwhelm when we're disconnected from our power source: Jesus. We end up spending all our energy grasping at things we can't obtain without Him. Things like security, peace and meaning. But He is here and can be found. He is our peace.

You are not a task-doing machine whose sole purpose in the world is to be productive. It's too easy to just see our immediate situation because it's what's right in front of our face. But if that's all we pay attention to we are automatically off-center. God is calling us from milestone to milestone as he changes us into who he designed us to be.

You have worth—you don't have to perform to prove it! Sometimes it's OK to say "No." All to often in ministry, there is pressure to say yes to to many things. When people can't hear "NO" it often means they can't say "no." But Jesus calls each of us by name and his voice is the only one we need to say 'yes' to.

Merry Christmas!!! This week, to celebrate Christmas, we'll be talking about the Incarnation. Today we talk about what it means that God came to be with men as a man. Jesus was poor, cold, hungry, and in fear of his life. He is also our example of how to manage stress—how to abide in the Father.

And all the decorations yell at you, "Be happy! Be happy!" and that can feel like pressure. But they could also be calling out, inviting you into the wonder of the holiday through an appreciation of the little things. How we interpret those voices has a lot to do with our past experiences. But each year, we have a new opportunity to partake of the magic of the season.

"The Holidays are ruined!" Today Evan and Liz Frerichs talk about how connecting with who God's made us to be in a moment of panic can bring us back to a place of peace. There are no wasted days, no wasted holidays. God is big enough to rescue them if we meet Him on His level. Hang on to Him.

"Let's power through the Holiday schedule!" but powering through leads to an empty life. Evan & Liz Frerichs talk about how multi-tasking ends up taking more time because of the constant switching of focus. If there is anytime it's tempting to multi-task, it's the holidays – but if there is any time we need surrender, it's the holidays!

"I've just got to get through the Holidays, and then I'll be less stressed!" How hard it is to do self-care during the holidays!?? Being stressed also makes it impossible to solve the stress problem—we tend to just rush, rush, rush to the end or brace to get through.
