In 1984 a ton of movies came out that changed pop culture forever. One of the biggest was Ghostbusters which spawned a sequel, two cartoon series, multiple toy lines, a reboot and countless other merchandise. But perhaps its biggest contribution to the world are the Ghostbuster franchises around the world that suit up to do cons, charity events and even birthday parties (take that He-Man). This week we talk with some of the Austin, TX group about why they feel the need to, "answer the call."

Some generic products as just as good (if not better) than their name brand counter parts. But some are not. In fact some are so hilariously bad it's hard to imagine comparing them to the name brand at all. This week the group is coming up with the most generic versions of some products we can think of. What odd marshmallow shapes will end up in the cereal box? What's the worst species that can be crammed into a box of animal crackers? What celebrity doesn't need a knock-off perfume?

We're live fro Geekfest Preview 2017. And what better way to learn about our fellow geeks than doing some geeky either or trivia. If you were going to reboot the DC movie universe, how would you do it? If someone was going to write the score for your life, who would it be? If you were a super hero would you wear spandex or armor? All of these questions and more will be answered!

You find a new series and everything is great. You're digging on it, it's digging on you. But as time goes by things change. Maybe the show runners change; maybe one of the main characters changes or maybe it just isn't as interesting as it used to be. This week we're discussing movie, TV, book and other series that we've broken up with. We'd like to say, "it's not you, it's me," but in this case it's probably you.

Cosplay has become a huge part of almost every geeky con and festival. The costumes and props have reached truly epic levels of detail and complexity and can be a bit intimidating to those just getting started. Don't worry, we're here to help. This week we talk with several cosplayers who know a thing about costume and prop building. Grab your dremel and a sheet of EVA foam, it's time to build.

Remember when Monopoly was just Monopoly? Not Star Wars Monopoly, or The Walking Dead Monopoly? There is something fun about the idea of giving one of those classic board games like Monopoly, Risk or Clue a new coat of paint especially when that paint is the theme of one of our favorite TV shows or movies. This week we're going to adapt our own versions of those games for the website. What would Cy's piece look like in Monopoly? Who would Lanie be Clue? What countries will Kris dominate in Risk?

Technology is awesome. It has made possible things that we could only dream about growing up like virtual reality, podcasts, etc. But much like the dinosaur, some technologies / activities died off because of the rise of technology. And while we may look back on them fondly, do you really miss them? This week we share some of the things that hold a place in our hearts for nostalgic reasons but we might not really miss for practical reasons... like video rental stores with late fees... waiting in line for tickets for hours on end... buying over-priced physical media. Good times?

Going down rabbit holes or as you might call them rat holes, is the process of getting lost within a topic or process that rarely produces results and tend to waist time. For example, if ever time you go to Pinterest you notice 4 hours has suddenly vanished, that's a rabbit hole. This week the group talks about the rabbit holes we have to avoid in order to get stuff done. We'll try to keep each other on task but let be honest, this could be a very long episode.
