Brittany Perez is originally from the Chicago area. She graduated from Columbia College Chicago with a degree in Broadcast Journalism (Television), and started her career working with WMAQ (NBC Chicago) behind the scenes at the Assignment Desk.

KSFY in South Dakota is where she began as a one-(wo)man-band in front of the camera, reporting, shooting and editing video from the Aberdeen bureau. Some of her favorite stories there include human interest features, covering all kinds of weather, and shooting video of floods and wildfires from a plane. She even took flying lessons! In her free time, she traveled, sang the National Anthem at sporting events and stock car races, and ran her first Half Marathon in Deadwood, SD.

Brittany landed in Tallahassee as the Political Correspondent for WTSP (CBS Tampa/St. Pete, FL), covering stories on air for CBS in Tampa, ABC & NBC in Jacksonville (First Coast News), as well as Gannett online and print affiliates, and feeding stories through CNN.

University of Detroit Jesuit High School alum returns as school’s next president

Fr. Dan Dixon, SJ, has just been named the 31st President of the University of Detroit Jesuit High School & Academy. Fr. Dixon has been the Parochial Vicar of St. Mary Student Parish in Ann Arbor, MI. He grew up in Birmingham, graduating from the University of Detroit Jesuit High School and attended the University of Notre Dame. He took his vows in 2014.

Fr. Dixon helped to start The Welsh Academy, a middle school for families of modest economic means in Cleveland; taught classes for English language learners to migrants and refugees at St. Rita’s Center in the Bronx, NY, and at Oakland Catholic Worker in Oakland, CA.

Fr. Nate Harburg is the pastor of Our Lady of Peace Parish in Bay City, Michigan. He previously served as Pastor of Good Shepherd Parish in Ubly, Michigan, also in the Diocese of Saginaw. He was ordained in 2011.

His high school classmates voted him “most likely to become a priest.”

His parents met as members of the Word of God ecumenical community in Ann Arbor. His father was raised as an atheist and forbidden to speak of God or Religion in his childhood home. He was later drawn to the Word of God ministry.

Fr. Harburg has eight younger siblings, including two adopted. He enjoys spending time with his family, running in 5ks and half-marathons, and writing poems. He graduated from Franciscan University in Steubenville in 2003 and Sacred Heart Seminary in Detroit in 2011, and was ordained that year.
