On November 25th, 1120, the vessel known as “The White Ship” sank of the Normandy coast taking the life of William Adelin, the only legitimate son and heir of England Henry I.  This event led to a period in English history known as “The Anarchy”.

What might have been the alternate timeline if young William had lived and what does that potentially have to do with much of modern Western democracy as we know it today?
