Craft beer competitions are something we've both judged and attended, but we really never got the lowdown on the inner workings on the pod. Hilary and Christine of the Canada Beer Cup joined Cee, along with Jeff from Saskatchewan's Pile O' Bones and Nokomis Brewing, to chat about how the Canada Beer Cup got started, how they set up the beer judging and why they stick to their processes, how breweries can submit their products, how proceeds are used for the non-profit side, how the Canadian Craft Brewers Association (CCBA) started and how it works, some of the advocacy work they do and some of the recent wins, the history of Pile O' Bones and Nokomis breweries, how the Saskatchewan scene gets down, how winning awards like Best In Show affects a brewery as far as brand reach and staff morale, and why they pair the Canada Beer Cup with the provincial conferences.
