This week, JP sits down with Kristian, the East Coast-bred cultivator and founder of Kounter Kulture. Born in New York and raised upstate, Kristian’s cannabis path started in high school and led to some wild connections — including a summer job on the lake where he befriended DMX at just 19.

Like many in the culture, Kristian’s journey took him west during the Prop 215 era, growing in Lake Tahoe when California cannabis was still underground but thriving. Today, he’s settled in Grass Valley, cultivating, breeding, and co-owning a tissue culture lab in Sacramento where he helps growers preserve and clean their genetics. Through Kounter Kulture, Kristian is bringing all that history forward — launching statewide and keeping craft alive while pushing new innovation.
