Jennifer Pan, whose family's peaceful suburban life in Markham, Ontario, was shattered in November 2010. A group of men entered the Pan household, killing Jennifer's mother, Bich Ha Pan, and critically injuring her father, Huei Hann Pan.

Jennifer initially recounted a harrowing tale of being tied to the banister during the attack, but her father's survival and subsequent testimony turned the investigation in a different direction. After a lengthy trial in 2014, Jennifer, along with her former boyfriend Daniel Wong and three others, was convicted of first-degree murder and attempted murder, receiving life sentences with no parole for 25 years.
