On January 16, 2010, Dr. Robert Stonebreaker, a respected veterinarian and founder of the Animal and Bird Hospital of Del Mar, was involved in a single-car accident in Rancho Santa Fe, California. His silver 2008 Porsche Carrera was found crashed in a ravine, but Dr. Stonebreaker was missing from the scene.
The following morning, his body was discovered in a nearby driveway, approximately 1,000 feet from the crash site. The medical examiner determined that he died from blunt force trauma to the head, inconsistent with injuries from a car accident.
