A conversation (in English) with Kendra Schiffer, Partner and head of the tech sector at the esteemed research company Trivium China, about China's vision for its digital economy, and the importance of data as a strategic resource. We talked about China's strategy for the digital economy in the country, about its policy on data which to a large extent is more forward-thinking than what is happening in the west. We touched on the concept of data as the new factor of production that was added to land, labor, capital, and technology - and how China seeks to turn the resource not only into a strategic factor of production for the digital economy - but also into a monetary asset that can be traded like any other asset sold today.
Kendra is one of the analysts I value most in regards to technology policy, regulation and the technology sector in China in general - and it was both fun and interesting to host her for a conversation.
