Welcome to episode 24 of Inside The Line: The Catskills! In 1918, T. Morris Longstreth wrote a book about his solo hike through the Catskills. 103 years later, fellow SAR team member Harold Oakhill, who was inspired by Longstreth's adventure, decided to take a very similar route and spend 14 days in the Catskills. On this episode, he shares highlights of his experiences, what challenges he faced hiking solo and some of the major changes in townships and trails as compared to Longstreth's journey in 1918. Harold also tells a story about a possible ghost encounter near Echo Lake. I also do a short lesson about the Grand Hotel, which was a massive hotel located in Pine Hill. Thanks for listening! Big thank you to all who have donated. This money is not being used for profit. At the end of my one year anniversary with the podcast, it will be donated to a local organization in the Catskills! Thank you once again!
