In the early hours of March 10, 1998, emergency services responded to what was reported as a terrifying home invasion in the affluent Sydney suburb of Dover Heights. Inside the family home, 53-year-old Denise Govendir was found dead from devastating head injuries. Her husband, Aaron Govendir, claimed that an unknown assailant posing as a police officer had attacked them both — knocking him unconscious before brutally killing Denise and stealing their car.
