大家好，歡迎大家來收聽English Angel 在師大! 我是Angela老師，這一季我們一起來學習容易混淆的英文相關單詞與用語，這樣你就可以深入瞭解一些常混淆不清楚的字詞，並掌握正確用法，也能進一步釐清自己英文觀念。
我們學習英文時，會受到中文意思的影響，容易在說英文時，搞不清楚到底要用哪個英文字詞，因為字的中文或英文容易混淆。今天我們要特別看單字live (住) stay (停留) 和inhabit (v.) 居住，我們拿這幾個字做比較。我們先看每個字的常用範例和情境，然後再跟同學解釋用英文你何時會容易誤用字詞，而自己並沒有察覺。
(一) live (v.) 居住; 活著; 過著(生活)
一般而言live (居住) 表示我們在一個地方、都市或是國家居住，當然live也可以表示其他的意思，我們來看常見的單句。
1. The young man needs to find a place to live. 這個年輕人需要找個地方住。
2. Pandas live mainly in bamboo forests high in the mountains. 熊貓主要住在高山的竹林中。
3. Why do women live longer than men? 為什麼女性比男性活得更久？
4. Everybody wants to live a comfortable life. 每個人都想要過著舒服的生活。
(二) stay (v.) 保持;留下來;停留（短暫住）
用stay其實表達的意思也挺多的，有大家熟悉的名言，也有很口語的用法。
1. Stay hungry, Stay foolish. 求知若渴，大智若愚。2. Stay calm. 保持冷靜。（=Keep calm. 保持冷靜） 3. Just keep calm and stay put. 保持冷靜; 待在原地。 4. We plan to stay at a five-star hotel downtown. 我們想要住在市中心的五星級飯店。
(三) inhabit (v.) 居住 (live in 居住)
不過inhabit這個字好像都是在介紹自然地理環境相關的知識時候用到，也以用人或是動物當主詞，也可以用被動的形式呈現，也是很棒的字。
1. Who inhabited North America first? 誰先住在北美洲？
2. The village is inhabited by mostly poor farmers. 這個村落大部分住著貧窮的農人。
3. Between 8 and 10 million birds inhabit the island. 介於八百到一千萬隻鳥居住在這個島。
看完了以上的介紹，我們來看同學何時最容易混淆這些字？其實，最常聽到的就是同學
容易不小心把stay 與live混用 。同學最常問別人去度假時住在哪裡，例如：你上個週末住哪裡？我住一間飯店。中文用『住』來詢問與回答，不過用英文來問，就不可以用live或是inhabit（住），要用的是stay (短暫的停留，短暫的住在某個地方)，例如:
A: Where did you stay last weekend? 你上個週末住哪裡？
B: I stayed at a B&B in the countryside. 我住鄉間的一間民宿。
另外，若是碰到live和inhabit 兩個字要選擇的時候，要記得inhabit後面沒有介系詞in喔！這也是同學會受到中文影響亂加介系詞的一個情況。
