We're thrilled to have Arthur Bookman join us on Around the Rheum for our long-promised episode on Sjogren's Syndrome!
Dr. Bookman is a world expert on Sjogren's and we think that, after listening, you'll agree this episode has been well worth the wait!
Co-hosts Dan and Janet engage with Dr. Bookman in a lively discussion about a number of topics related to Sjogren's, including diagnosis; salivary gland biopsies, other in-clinic testing, the impact of prednisone on testing, and other challenging diagnostic scenarios. They then discuss treatment; including clinical pearls for treating SICCA symptoms, the EULAR recommendations for the management of Sjogren's, and various treatments that are coming down the pipeline for this condition. All throughout, Dr. Bookman demonstrates his mastery of both the science and 'Art' of this area of medicine!
Dr. Arthur Bookman is the coordinator of the Multidisciplinary Sjogren’s Clinic at Toronto Western Hospital. He is also an Associate Professor at the University of Toronto where he is the Program Director for the Division of Rheumatology. He is a former President of the Canadian Rheumatology Association, the current President of the Journal of Rheumatology, and Co-Chair of the Medical Advisory Committee of the Sjogren’s Society of Canada.
Around the Rheum is produced by the Canadian Rheumatology Associations Communications Committee.
A special thank you to the podcast team, Dr. Dax G. Rumsey (CRA Communications Committee Chair), Dr. Daniel Ennis (Host), Janet Pope (host), David McGuffin (Producer, Explore Podcast Productions), Erin Stewart (Marketing and Communications Director, CRA) for leading production.
