This is was another great round from the Abt Daiwa bream series. With six angler interveiws over two parts, this is one not to be missed.
This round was sponsored by Rapala, and marks the recent lauch of the Crush City range of soft plastics designed and developed in Australia. Each angler was given a mix of different soft plastics at the briefing on Friday night. Tune in to see how this affected the results!
First up we have Jordan Armstrong who placed third in the Non - boater division. I must say it was an absolute pleasure to speak with Jordan. Jordan was paired up whith two awesome boaters. On day one , he fished with Steve Wilson and was able to to catch his three fish many times over. Then on day two he was paired with Anthony Wishey. I spoke with Jordan at length about fishing with Anthony and I was so impressed by what Jordan had to say, I recorded an angler interview with Anthony that will be aired on The Australian Lure Fishing Podcast tomorrow.
Make sure you listen in to hear what Jordan has to say. If you are on the fence about fishing an ABT round, this may push you over the edge.
Next up I spoke with Joel Mckenzie. While Joel has not been on The Bream Fishing Project previously, he has been mentioned before. Back in episode 22, I spoke with the non - boater winner Lance Marsh who is Joels father in-law. If you have not heard this interview I encourage you to go back and have a listen.
The other interesting thing about this round is that Lance and Joel were paried with the same boaters. Joel had Tim Morgan on Saturday and Mick Horn on Sunday. Lance had Mick Horn on Saturday and Tim Morgan on Sunday. For anyone who doesn't know, both Mick And Tim work for Rapala who sponsored the round.
In his interview Joel run through the lures and techniques he used to fill his bags. He also spoke about the how the sounder helped them to locate bream.
Then in first place in the Non - Boater division we have Peter Clark. This was another great interview. As you will hear in the interview , Peter travelled up to the Gold Coast, with his mate Andrew Stubbs to try and secure a top ten finish and secure a spot in the Grand Final.
He did better than that, he won the event. If you tune in an d listen through to Peters inteview, you will hear how he channelled some sponsor karma using one of the new Rapala lure he was give at the briefing. Peter did eventually need a couple more lures and Tim The Bream Morgan came to the rescue with a few extra soft plastics. I did read a comment from Tim saying that Peter had showed him that these particular lures worked well on bream.
Next week we will have Part 2. This was a special win, and is not to be missed
