Episode 40 – The Protector and Other Listeners’ Stories (Part 4) ‘My lungs collapsed, and I required an emergency tracheostomy and multiple surgeries. A number of times my heart stopped for minutes at a time. In one particular incident I was rushed into emergency surgery, my poor mother asked the surgeon if I would survive. As the surgeon took me from my mother, he said, ‘put her son into my hands, and into the hands of fate!’. During this surgery I was about to be pronounced dead before the doctors managed to resuscitate me.
