BJ Hill, originally from Ann Arbor, Michigan, is Senior Vice President of A&R at Warner Chappell Music. BJ has signed some of your favorite songwriters including Nicolle Gaylon, Jordan Reynolds, Charles Kelley, Dan Smyers (of Dan + Shay) and many more. He has worked in A&R on both the label and publisher side and has been an advocate for songwriters in town for over 20 years.
In this episode, we discuss BJ’s origins, from studying recording engineering at MTSU to learning what a hit sounds like while interning in the tape room basement, how he finds and develops new songwriting talent, why it’s important to be a “good hang” and much more.
