Ninemeister
Some episodes come about over a quick brew and a realisation that we're pals in waiting. Others whether it's because of logistics, scheduling or even personal reasons, it can take months, if not years to get locked in. You know what, that's OK! The important bit is that when we get it, we get a great episode that you people all love to listen to.
The other thing that's almost entirely out of my hands is whether someone is willing to share their personal journey. Some people like me ol' mate Mike Brewer, are seasoned veterans and the bit I have to do is help breathe life in to a story well told.
Some people find it hard and take a while to warm up. Then there's Colin Belton who even in the first few minutes owns the space in the room and claps himself in (to sync audio tracks). :D
For lots of reasons it's one of the most interesting conversations I've had on this journey through international Porsche culture that I've had.
I'll take a moment out to credit Ninemeister, not Colin only but the rest of the team building the 9m cars. I looked closely as I always do and take notes on fitment of panel gaps, consistent use of fixings, fitment of rubber trim and even joins in carpet. The cars are really incredibly well put together. The team there should be proud of what they produce.
Sadly for me, I didn't get the opportunity to go out in the 9mGT2 which was the point of the trip. Maybe I'll get an invite to drive the car and do a review. I suspect though, Colin is confident in the product enough to not want or need my review, and that's OK too.
It's a beast of an episode though and we get through a lot! Stay tuned to hear about Colin's take on his interaction with the Singer team as they were about to go live and uncover their first ever car at the Weathertech Laguna Seca circuit. It's an anecdote to rule them all.
