The Kirtland Cult were an offshoot of an offshoot that broke away from the Reorganised Church of Latter Day Saints in 1987. Like most cults they were led by a single-minded, self-appointed, narcissistic leader - Jeff Lundgren - who demanded absolute control of his followers; exploiting them psychologically, sexually and financially. Soon after the group moved onto a remote compound in Kirtland, Ohio the stockpiling and the paranoia began - and it would end in the brutal murder of a family of 5.
