  • Arousal in our horses
SEAM stands for: spontaneous erection and masturbation and it’s the topic of today’s podcast. Are horses that are trained using positive reinforcement more likely to SEAM? Is it because of frustration, relaxation, anxiety, contentment or boredom? We love it when questions lead to more questions...The fabulous Maisie Wake shared some research (see the link below) an we are interested in this as Rum does “drop” during training quite a lot, but what does it really mean? Do Mares get aroused with the training and what are the signs....? More questions? As usual we add some silliness and immaturity but it is an interesting topic and more studies are being done and looking for input, so get in touch with them if you and your horse would like to be involved: https://horseport.com/magazine/behaviour/rising-occasion-why-gelding-dropping/amp/?
