  • Be Present, just Breathe
The last in the series before we take a break until the New Year. In this weeks podcast we talk about the importance of being present during our training and why we owe it to our horses to be mindful when we are with them.
We can try as hard as we like to control the environment in our training session but we cannot control everything. Being present allows us to tap into what is happening in that moment and pick up on the smallest of changes that may affect our horse.
Kate discusses equine therapy work and gives some top tips quick exercises on how to bring yourself into the present moment. If you are enjoying our podcast, please like, subscribe and if you have time review. You can find Kate and Becky on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube: Equilogical Positive Equine Partnerships and Little Green Stables. • Talking Physio
Another bonus episode! No Kate today as she’s busy planning exciting stuff, so Becky chats to her friend and fellow Physio: Harriet Kitcat from Physio My Dog. Sat in a field sharing a picnic surrounded by cows we discuss what a routine physio or bodywork session looks like. How every animal and client is individual and how treatment and treatment plans follow the individual too. How we as therapists love our work. We both train and learn together often and have great fun discussing ways we can get creative with our work. Harriet also has a podcast: It’s Not Just One Thing that focuses on all aspects with our Canine family, it’s well worth a listen. Anyway we hope you enjoy our ramblings and sorry (not sorry) for the F bomb! If you are enjoying our podcast please share, like and subscribe. • The Power of the Pause
In today’s podcast we discuss the power of giving a pause. It’s something both Kate and Becky have been introducing to our training with the horses. Becky uses the pause in a slightly different way when training Squawk her rescue African Grey as he is bonded to her husband and when the daylight changes this can offer hormone challenges. The passive pause is used with the horses at the beginning of the training session and in between each separate behaviour being trained (unless you are chaining ). The passive pause has been so valuable for creating calmness in the training and some valuable processing time for both human learner and horse learner. We have introduced it successfully with Rum, and Kate has been introducing the passive pause successfully with the Conquest Horses, videos of this training can be found on our Patreon members page: Little Green Stables. We recorded this podcast before our interview with the fantastic Trudi Dempsey, and decided to publish after our podcast with Trudi went out, so please bare in mind the time lag. We hope you are enjoying our podcast and if you are, please share, like and subscribe. • The Dempsey's in the detail!

On today's podcast we have the wonderful Trudi Dempsey, Equine Trainer and Behaviourist. With over 30 years of experience under her belt, Trudi tells us how she got into training with +R back at a time when it was almost unheard of in the equine world!

The three of us have an open and honest discussion about training, the pitfalls and the ups and downs of behavioural consulting. Kate and Trudi discuss the feat of getting people on board with +R versus meeting the expectations of the client.

Becky shares her experience in working with two trainers who are very different in many ways but how by building community we are better equipped to support both learner and equine journeys.

What does the future hold for +R? Trudi shares her thoughts and talks about the need for more places where people can practise with +R trained horses.
