A growth mindset helps people see challenges as opportunities to learn and grow, even in difficult times. Instead of feeling defeated, those with this mindset look for ways to adapt and solve problems. This is especially important for men dealing with erectile dysfunction (ED), as it can prevent feelings of helplessness and frustration.
In contrast, a fixed mindset can lead to negative emotions like self-doubt and hopelessness. Men with ED who have a fixed mindset may believe nothing can improve their situation, which only adds to their anxiety and stress. This cycle of stress can make ED even harder to manage.

Today we are joined by Dr. Rahul Mehan, a renowned urologist, who sheds light on the impact of Ozempic on sexual function, particularly in relation to erectile dysfunction. He is also the founder of Snip City, which specializes in vasectomy procedures.
Ozempic, a semaglutide-based GLP-1 agonist, is widely recognized for its effectiveness in managing blood sugar and promoting weight loss, making it a popular choice among those battling obesity and diabetes. However, as its usage expands, there's growing interest in understanding its broader impacts, particularly on sexual function. Recent studies, though limited, have begun to shed light on potential side effects, including a modest increase in the incidence of erectile dysfunction and lower testosterone levels in some men using the medication.

Premature Ejaculation (PE) is a condition that can significantly impact both men and their partners. Often associated with erectile dysfunction, PE can cause distress and relationship issues. PE is generally defined as ejaculating within 1 to 3 minutes of stimulation or penetration. However, the distress and lack of control associated with this condition vary widely among individuals. If PE causes significant distress or relationship problems, it’s crucial to seek help.

Our recent episodes have primarily been interview-style, featuring guests and experts in various fields related to sexual health. However, we have received requests to bring back solo episodes and we plan to bring this format back at least, on occasion. This episode isn't about politics, voting preferences, or gun control. It's about the pervasive atmosphere of stress and its effects on our mental and sexual health. High levels of sustained stress are detrimental to the body, mind, and erections. The relentless news cycle contributes to widespread anxiety, fear, and tension. This intense environment affects everyone, often subconsciously.

Cannabis might help some people with sexual issues like trouble having orgasms or low desire for sex. It can relax people and help them focus on their bodies during sex. The main active ingredient, THC, can create an altered state of mind that may help some people achieve orgasm more easily. Cannabis might also increase desire and arousal in some users.

Her practice specializes in men's health, erectile dysfunction, Peyronie's disease, prosthetic surgery, hypogonadism, male infertility, fertility preservation, and cancer survivorship.
Diabetes can severely impact a man's ability to achieve and maintain an erection, as it damages the blood vessels, nerves, hormones, and erectile tissues required for healthy sexual function. Type 1 diabetes is a genetic condition present from birth, while type 2 diabetes is typically acquired later in life due to obesity and unhealthy lifestyle factors.

Hair loss can be a distressing experience for many men, leading them to seek out treatments like minoxidil (Rogaine) and finasteride (Propecia). However, these popular medications may come with potential side effects that impact sexual function. Minoxidil is unlikely to significantly affect erectile function when applied topically, as only about 1% of the medication is absorbed into the bloodstream. On the other hand, finasteride, which blocks the conversion of testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT), has been associated with a 5-10% chance of negatively impacting sexual function, including reduced libido, erectile dysfunction, ejaculatory problems, and decreased sexual pleasure. These effects have been reported with both the higher 5mg dose used for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and the lower 1mg dose for male pattern baldness.

Today, we're joined by Natalie Finegood Goldberg, an LMFT, licensed marriage and family therapist, and certified sex therapist based in Los Angeles. With her extensive experience in resolving sexual dysfunctions, including erectile dysfunction (ED), Natalie sheds light on the intricate relationship between performance anxiety and ED.
Performance anxiety triggers a cascade of panic hormones, diverting blood flow away from the penis due to the fight or flight response. This physiological reaction can hinder erectile function, exacerbating the anxiety loop. Addressing performance anxiety involves unpacking false beliefs, broadening the definition of sex, and cultivating a healthy mind-body connection.
