  • One Day

    The focus of our venture, One Day – Auto-portraits in Sound, revolves around building a sound portrait of each team member with the events of a single day. Including activities such as cooking, hanging out with friends, listening to music, or day trip as a way of understanding the concept of self-representation. Each team member is allowed to either demonstrate their ordinary life or a fictional character, which allows room for imagination. These togetherness soundscapes make up a bigger picture of personal stories set within the structure of ‘One Day’.

    1. Alix, 19, aspiring circus performer and music lover. Goes to gigs and spends time with friends. (Louiza)

    2. Mariam, 24 years old, an art student. The recording shows the simplicity of a student’s

    day between its school life and house life, tasks, duties and fun. A story to be told by the

    individuals words. (Mariam)

    3. Malonne, a designer works at home, spent the day with knife, pencil and heat. (Ziyi)

    4. Amy, a photographer living in the city Phoenix. The recording starts with a short trip during the day time, then enter the dreamy night. Mixing a bit contrast of reality and dream. (Yi)

    5. Malcom, 8:53, no clue about pm or am, his alarm clock works no more. (Aristide)

    This audio project invites listeners to imagine stories through the medium of sound, highlighting the richness of everyday life. By weaving together field recordings, we aim to create immersive soundscapes that challenge the audience to build their own narratives from auditory cues.

    The project draws inspiration from sound artists like Luc Ferrari, known for his evocative environmental recordings, and Hildegard Westerkamp, who explored storytelling through soundscapes. Our work bridges art and imagination, allowing sound to become a canvas for the listener's creativity.

    This collaborative effort was created by Mariam, Louiza, Ziyi,

    Aristide, & Yi.

  • Happy Times

    A space. A place. Where I’m working or where I’m sleeping? What difference does it make when I have to wait to go from one to the other. I spent my studies waiting for that, for what? Mouses are clicking, keyboards are tapping, computers whirr... Who is actually working? Us, a couple of people or a ton of machines? I take a document from one to distribute it to another while my shoes and my outfit is strangling me. A door is opening and closing tirelessly, the background sound is always the same. Finally I can go. It’s raining. I didn’t notice it. The windows are too disturbing. Walk to the bus, number 7.5. Inside is a bunch of children, rain is enchanting them with their little rain coats. Rest now. The little ones are almost screaming but it’s okay, I was one of them. Wasn't I? Or was I always the teacher? little minds growing around colorful cubes and sleepy hours. I can’t even remember this time, was I screaming “mine! mine!” or was I the little one waiting peacefully, or crying, all day to go back to my mom?

  • Divination as a means of self-knowledge

    In this experimental radio project, our group seeks to explore means of divination by combining traditional Chinese fortune-telling methods and Western Tarot reading methods. The Chinese method reflects a rich history and philosophical depth, by using ancient chinese symbols written on small circular pieces of wood tokens that are thrown and then associated with a specific passage and poem written in Ancient Chinese. Meanwhile the Tarot represents a global perspective of the practices of divination. To explore these methods, our group created a protocol, which is the following:

    1) One person (Yuwen, Haoran,Mingwang or Omari) asks a question of their choice;

    2) One person (Rouyu) acts as the Diviner, conducting the reading of cards or tokens;

    3) Once the reading is done, others from the group may give their own perspectives of what the result may be.

  • Microwaves

    MICROWAVES — TV DINNER is an experimental sound piece playing on the field of auditory storytelling. Through sometimes robotic meditative incentives, and eclectic echoes, MICROWAVES — TV DINNER explores aspects of our daily lives where technology and the search for comfort and convenience shape the modern human experience.

    Putting us in the company of a microwavable TV dinner tray, this piece attempts to question the ways modern technology is affecting not only our senses, but also our lives. Chosen symbol of the modern routine, the TV dinner tray is a token of solitude. Loss of a sense of home, of the experience of gathering and sharing a meal, this sound piece points out ways that today, we’re not so different from this commodity of our daily lives. A life of blinding artificial light, surrounded by the buzzing sound of air conditioning vents, crowds and the beeping of various machines, to finally come home to try and find some comfort and warmth thanks to some invisible, electromagnetic waves.

  • Daydream Time

    Daydream time is a sound experience which connects childhood memories from five young adults; Ma, Moyue, Camille, Polina and Noé. This group comes from different areas from the planet, passing through China, Russia and ending up this dreamlike trip in Europe.

    The podcast is composed of 5 distinct sounds which echo to different minds and the memories of listeners. Sounds are decomposed and recomposed, passing from cow bells to train stations, bicycle wheels and to the waves of the sea, to come and form one entity of memory.

    This experience aims to share the childhood memories of the group but also to remind listeners of their own.

    Have a good trip!

  • An everyday overwhelming feeling through the street

    This is a transcription, a common feeling in the street, especially more common amongst women. The text is interpreted through three voices, reflecting and sharing quickly this experience through the streets.

    In french: “I like to walk quickly”, to navigate between the twists and turns and the intrusive and abusive interactions of the street, of the unknown, of what we can’t control. Overwhelming, overstimulating, authoritarian, mixing inner thoughts and outer disturbances. Intense rhythms, dense sharing, creating an unstable climate for the listener.

  • Heartbeam

    “Heartbeam” is a project collecting short stories, memories and feelings about lost love. We wanted to show the strength of nostalgia people have about very personal memories, anecdotes that brings them back to a place they were with special people for them. Whether it felt sweet, heartbreaking, joyful, surprising... They gave a lot of poetical and touching anonymous texts. Some were just a few words, some were very detailed... Leonore, Valentine, Camille, Martin and Agathe then to put their voices on these beautiful anonymous stories and reappropriated them. Martin also improvised a few notes on a piano to express the emotion we felt towards these stories that we read out loud. Kaylian put the project together by giving it a name, doing the editing, the podcast’s cover and the sound mixing. He builds the first on a software instrument, inspired by Martin Romand original cords heard in the second part.
