If you're just hearing about us, we do these comedy sketches for each one of our main episodes, and then post them on their own the following week for anyone who didn't catch the episode to enjoy. They often take the form of a fake commercial, but they can sometimes look like (sound like?) sketchy-sketches.

Episode 4 of Season 3 features this sketch, "Schoolhouse Rock the Vote" inspired by Election.

The Esoterica Cinema train keeps rolling along with our third proper episode of Season 3!
We're officially knee-deep into Season 3 and what a season it's been! If you haven't yet, be sure to go back through the last few months of episodes and check out our 5 Minute Review Series. It's been getting a very strong response, and features Jason or Ryan giving a brief breakdown of interesting films in cinematic history. We've also got some great guest spots on our long form episodes, like Jesse from Sudden But Inevitable, Wyndham from Celluloid Fever Dreams, and MJ from Let's Jaws a Minute; those can be found in our Season 3 bonus content.
Today, though, we are bringing you the best of what our full-length episodes have to offer: deep cinematic insight coupled with a constant thread of fun! We've even brought back the comedy sketches that we know you all know and love.*
*We know some of you think these are dumb as hell, but we love them so don't assume they're going anywhere!
Enjoy this review of Alexander Payne's sophomore effort Election, and everything the new and improved Season 3 has to offer. Thanks for listening!

To help break up those long, lonely weeks between full-length episodes, we've decided to carry over our rather popular 5 Minute Review Series into the regular season!
5 Minute Reviews feature Jason or Ryan reviewing a film from the Esoterica Cinema universe in - you guessed it - 5 minutes. But it's an Esoterica Cinema five minutes which means it'll likely go as long as ten.
Our 5 Minute Reviews are short-form and spoiler-free, so anyone can listen whether they've seen the film or not.
This week, Jason looks at the 2010 psychological horror Antichrist from writer/director Lars von Trier, and starring show-favorite Willem Dafoe alongside Charlotte Gainsbourg.

To kick-off Season 3, Jason looks at an earlier film from one of his favorite working directors, Denis Villeneuve's Incendies from 2010. While outside his current sci-fi wheelhouse, the film is a definite success, and you can find out right here on Esoterica Cinema's 5 Minute Review Series.
