The top losers were Nifty Auto, Nifty FMCG, and Nifty Metal which fell between 0.76% and 0.38%. The top performer was Nifty IT which maintained its previous week’s winning run and closed with gains of 0.60%. Nifty Pharma, Nifty PSU Bank, and Nifty Healthcare Index closed with small gains amid action in selective stocks.

From the Sensex pack, SBI and Axis Bank were the top losers- falling over 3% each. Bajaj Finance, ICICI Bank, Bajaj Finserv, and IndusInd Bank also ended with cuts. On the other hand, L&T, HUL, Power Grid, and Asian Paints closed with gains.

HCL Tech, Tech Mahindra, and Infosys closed over 2% higher. Other than IT stocks, Bajaj Finance, NTPC, M&M, and Bajaj Finserv also closed higher from the Sensex pack. Axis Bank, powergrid, and ITC were the losers of the day.

In early trade on Friday, Sensex and Nifty opened with losses after Fed Chairman Jerome Powell said the US central bank is not confident that interest rates are high enough to control inflation.

From the Sensex pack, HUL, Tech Mahindra, Infosys, Reliance Industries, and Bajaj Finance ended in the red, while M&M, Power Grid, IndusInd Bank, and Tata Motors closed higher.

Asian Paints, Titan, JSW Steel, L&T, and ITC closed with gains, while ICICI Bank, Infosys, NTPC, Tech Mahindra, and Bajaj Finance closed with cuts.

Nifty Pharma rose 1.3% and was the top sectoral gainer, Nifty Healthcare was up 1%. Nifty Bank, FMCG, Metal, and Oil & Gas also ended higher. On the other hand, Nifty Auto, Media, Realty, and Consumer Durables closed in the red.

The Indian rupee ended slightly lower on Friday, as continued local U.S. dollar demand in the absence of substantial inflows weighed on the unit.The rupee closed at 83.2850 against the U.S. dollar.

The top losers among Sensex stocks were Sun Pharma and M&M - falling over 2% each. Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank, IndusInd Bank, and Reliance Industries also closed in the red. Titan, Kotak Bank, Asian Paints, HCL Tech, and Power Grid closed with gains.

Indian markets closed higher today due to a results-led boost by Reliance. Sensex was up 330 pts and closed above the 64K mark, Nifty rose 93 pts and closed above the 19K mark.
