Nifty PSU Bank surged 4.1%. Bank of India, Canara Bank. Nifty Auto, Nifty Financial, and Nifty IT also rose over 1% each.The more domestically focussed small and midcaps rose 2% and 1.5%, respectively.

ITC, Tata Steel, and HUL were the top losers on Sensex, falling over 2% each. SBI, JSW Steel, and Power Grid also ended lower, while Kotak Bank, IndusInd Bank, TCS, and NTPC closed higher.

Indian markets: Indian equity indices closed lower today following negative cues from global markets. Global market sentiment is currently a little negative due to tensions in the Middle East. Earnings-driven gains were there that saved the benchmarks from hitting days lows.

Metals jumped nearly 1% after data showed China's economy grew at a faster-than-expected rate in July-September, easing concerns over recovery in the top metals consumer.

Power Grid, Kotak Bank, Tech Mahindra, and Bajaj Finserv were the top gainers, rising 1-2%. While Tata Motors, L&T, IndusInd Bank and TCS closed in the red.

Delta Corp shares closed 8.8% lower on BSE after receiving a GST notice for tax shortfall. The amount of the alleged tax shortfall is Rs 6,237 crore

Axis Bank, Infosys, SBI, WIPRO and JSW Steel were the losers of the day whereas Tata Motors, IndusInd Bank, HCL Tech and Nestle closed higher
