Sensex broke its longest winning run in 2 years and ended below 60,000 mark while Nifty ended near 17,700 level. But what caused this crash? Let's look at 6 factors behind the crash.

Led by a Rs 10,000 crore inflow by FIIs, Nifty has rallied around 5% in the last 9 trading sessions

IndusInd Bank, Power Grid Corp, Axis Bank, Kotak Bank and Bajaj Finserv were the top gainers, rising 1-3% each. SBI, Asian Paints, ICICI Bank and Bajaj Finance also closed with gains

The stock that stood out today was Divi's Labs - it closed 10% higher due to strong export sales in March. Sula also ended 9% higher after a jump of 30% in overall sales in FY23.

BSE and NSE closed higher for the 7th straight session due to strong quarterly updates by lenders and ahead of corporate earnings for the March quarter.

In the Sensex pack, Tata Motors was the top gainer, rising over 5% after a strong year-on-year jump in its global wholesales in Q4FY23. Wipro, Power Grid, L&T, M&M and Tech Mahindra also closed with gains.

The market breadth was in favour of the bulls with 30 out of 50 stocks advancing at the closing time.

In the last 4 sessions, investors have turned richer by Rs 9.45 lakh crore as the total market cap of all BSE-listed companies rose to Rs 261.31 lakh crore today.

Let's start with the home ground - BSE and NSE closed high as there were positive cues from the Asian markets. Indices were led by banking, financial and auto stocks. Sensex surged 115 points and settled at 59, 106, nifty rose 39 points and ended at 17, 399.
