This week I welcomed Muhsin Yesilada to the podcast. A comedian and academic, but these days, definitely more of a comedian, we spoke about all things life, background and comedy.
Muhsin's Eulogy
We’ve gathered here today to celebrate the life of Muhsin Yesilada. A father, an ex husband, and reformed extremist.
Muhsin came from humble beginnings, son to a business tycoon, Muhsin crawled his way out of the private school system into a successful comedy career.
It was during his comedy endeavours Muhsin met brother Farhan. The two became close, and eventually moved to Syria together in their efforts to counter aggressive western expansion and in the words of Muhsin himself “to get those 72 virgins on lock”.
Muhsin eventually returned home after his superiors realised his lack of commitment to actual combat.
It was at this moment Muhsin began fathering his many children globally. In total Muhsin had 14 children from 15 women. He loved many of those children. To his baby mums, Muhsin has asked me to read you this poem.
“I wish I pulled out”
Some of you don’t know this but Muhsin wrestled with his sexuality for years, often going away on trips with strange men he met online. Towards the end of his life he came to grips with his identity and settled down with his long time friend, Roman. They were so happy together.
After his final Netflix special titled “years of chlamydia and still fertile” Muhsin took a step back from his comedy career to focus on what mattered to him most family. And with that in mind, Muhsin asked me to read out these messages to his loved ones in the room.
To his darling ex wife Anne, Muhsin had this message “your sister was the fit one”
To his son Lionel Ronaldo…”I’m not your dad…dickhead”
And finally to his true love Roman….”you’ve got chlamydia.
