    Due to Corona Pandemic that hit the Earth in 2020 and still forces countries to a total lockdown Radio International starts the second series of the EUROVISION LOCKDOWN which are two extra live shows of Eurovision madness on Saturdays and Sundays for the time of the Corona Lockdown in the United Kingdom starting on Saturday 09 January 2021.

    The Team of Radio International - The Ultimate Eurovision Experience thought of easing the tough times with two additional Eurovision radio shows on Saturdays and Sundays. The idea is to entertain the listeners and fans with lots of Eurovision music of the 66 year history of the Eurovision Song Contest plus new music the Eurovision artists have released after their performance in the contest and most of all also the music requests of the listeners and fans.

    In the last series from March till June 2020 the show became popular and fans joined JP and the Radio International Team to present themed hours. We would like to continue on this in the second series.  Fans can actively take part in the show to join JP and his team in the studio via a SKYPE phone call live on air to talk about their thoughts and request their favourite song which does not need to be a Eurovision song.

    The shows are live via Castlepoint FM and Run FM in the United Kingdom but available also via the Radio International Facebook Group "Eurovision Radio International" where you can find the chatroom.     Join the Eurovision Fan Community listening to the shows and chat with the fans three hours every Saturday and Sunday. The Wednesday editions of the show remains the same as always.

     CONTENT OF TODAY's  SHOW

    First Hour:

    THE EUROVISION HAPPY HOUR:  JP will start in the first hour with some Eurovision Classics, your listener's requests and new material of Eurovision artists that have reached the Radio International Tower of Eurovision Power.  Also revisiting a Eurovision Song Contest and listen to five songs from a particular Eurovision year.

    Second Hour:

    EUROVISION SPOTLIGHT XXL:  Croatia at the Eurovision Song Contest with John Dawton. Croatia has been part of the Eurovision Song Contest since 1993 unfortunately never won the Eurovision Song Contest. The best position reached was Number 4 in 1996 and 1999.  John Dawton will be reflecting on the history of Croatia at the Eurovision Song Contest and ranked the best Croatian songs in a personal Top Ten. Get ready for some great Balkan songs in this special hour with John.

    Third Hour: 

    EUROVISION SPOTLIGHT XXL - Pearls from the German National Final across the decades: Returning to the Eurovision Lockdown this week joining JP via SKYPE is Matthias Breitinger from Berlin in Germany presenting another hour of Pearls from the German National Finals throughout the last decades. Looking forward to this great selection and also the stories coming with it presented by Matthias.

    Fourth Hour: 

    MY EUROVISION TOP TEN:   Joining JP this week is Madara Einia who is a new voice on the show presenting her favourite ten Eurovision songs of all time. Madara is native Latvian but now lives in the USA. Looking forward to listening to her selection of the songs.

    EUROVISION SPOTLIGHT XXL: You and Me with Ross Bennett:  Radio International's Ross Bennett rejoins JP in the studio for the fifth part in the series where Ross selected a set of Eurovision songs that contain "You and me" in the lyrics. Looking forward to a cheerful hour with Ross on the Eurovision Lockdown once again.

    Third Hour: 
    THE ULTIMATE EUROVISION TOP TWENTY by the Irish Jury: A number of experts and fans from Ireland got together watching all the Eurovision Song Contests and decided to vote for their Ultimate Eurovision Top Twenty which we have the pleasure of listening to on the the show this week presented by Radio International's Irish Voice on the show - Dermot Manning. This is Part 1 featuring the positions Number 20 up to Number 11. Next week will be Part 2 and the Top Ten.
     
    Fourth Hour:  
    EUROVISION SPOTLIGHT XXL: Sweden's Melodifestivalen with Robert Wahlstroem:  Melodifestivalen is Sweden's biggest musical event that happens every year since 1958. Robert Wahlstroem from Gothenburg in Sweden will be rejoining JP in the Studio to share some more Hidden Jems from Sweden's Melodifestivalen. This is Part 5. Enjoy listening to the best of music of Sweden's music.

    Radio International - The Ultimate Eurovision Experience is broadcast from Malta's Radio 105FM on Tuesday evenings from 2100 - 0059 hours CET. The show is also broadcast on CASTLEPOINT FM in the United Kingdom live on Wednesday evenings from 1900 - 2300 hours CET as well as on the Facebook Page of Eurovision Radio International with an interactive chatroom.


    This week Radio International's Interview Team JP, John Dawton, Marc and Salman are being joined again, via SKYPE by Barbara Pravi who is the Musical Ambassador of France at the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands after winning the French National Final 2021 "Eurovision France, c'est vous qui décidez!" with the song "Voila". Barbara will be performing in the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 on Saturday, 22 May 2021.

    The Interview Team of Radio International is very much looking forward to having Barbara Pravi on the show this week for an interview and with that to get to know the young French performer bringing her closer to the fans.

  • Radio International - The Ultimate Eurovision Experience (2021-04-14) Interviews with Glen Vella (Malta 2011) and winner of Malta's Muzika Muzika 2021 and more

    Radio International - The Ultimate Eurovision Experience is broadcast from Malta's Radio 105FM on Tuesday evenings from 2100 - 0059 hours CET. The show is also broadcast on Switch FM in the United Kingdom live on Wednesday evenings from 1900 - 2300 hours CET as well as on the Facebook Page of Eurovision Radio International with an interactive chatroom.


    This week Radio International's Interview Team JP, John Dawton, Marc and Salman are being joined again, via SKYPE  by Glen Vella for the continuation of the interview Radio International did with Glen on 03 Feb 2021 - (click to listen). Last March, Glen Vella won the all new music event entitled Muzika Muzika or Festival Kanzunetta Maltija 2021 with the song "Marsa Biss". This happened ten after he won the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2011 with the song "One Life" with which he  represented the Pearl of the Mediterranean sunny Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 coming 11th in Semi Final 1 in Duesseldorf, Germany. Glen missed ONE point to make that step into the Grand Final of Eurovision 2011. 

    Glen started his singing career at the age of 13 and studied both practical and theory in voice and piano. He is certificated in voice coaching from the Victoria Music and Arts College London and is a residential singer on various popular TV-shows in Malta including 'Kalamita', 'Showtime', 'Sa 6' and 'Sibtijiet Flimkien'. In addition, Glen also played main roles in various musicals on the local stage, including 'Jesus Christ Super Star', 'Godspell' and 'Abba Mania'.

    Glen Vella debuted in the Maltese selections for the Eurovision Song Contest in 2005 with the song "Appreciate". He tried to win the competition another 3 times, including a stint in 2009 with a short-lived group called Q. Again in November 2014, Glen participated in the Maltese national final for a chance to represent Malta in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 in Austria with the song "Breakaway" written by Kevin Borg. He qualified to the Grand Final of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2015 and finished in 3rd place.

    Radio International - The Ultimate Eurovision Experience is broadcast from Malta's Radio 105FM on Tuesday evenings from 2100 - 0059 hours CET. The show is also broadcast on Switch FM in the United Kingdom live on Wednesday evenings from 1900 - 2300 hours CET as well as on the Facebook Page of Eurovision Radio International with an interactive chatroom.

     


    Live Interview with Kurt Calleja (Malta 2021): All the countries have submitted their entry to the  Eurovision Song Contest 2021which is fast approaching. It scheduled for 18 May (Semi Final 1) 20 May (Semi Final 2) and the Grand Final on 22 May 2021 with 39 countries competing at the Ahoy Arena of Rotterdam, the Netherlands. In the Run-Up to the World's biggest music competition Radio International - The Ultimate Eurovision Experience is inviting the artists from the Eurovision Class of 2021. But in addition to the Eurovision Class 2021 Radio International invites also previous Eurovision performers to come onto the show to chat about their Eurovision Experience and their career development. 
     

    This week the Team of Radio International is very happy to welcome back to the show Malta's Musical Ambassador to the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 - Kurt Calleja who successfully qualified the sunny Pearl in the Mediterranean Sea for the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Baku, Azerbaijan with the song "This is the night" coming 21st.

    Already in 2010 Kurt tried for the ticket to the Eurovision Song Contest as he teamed up with Priscilla as Priscilla and Kurt when their duet "Waterfall" came 12th in the GO Malta Eurosong which was won by Thea Garrett and "My Dream". The year after that, in 20211, Kurt entered the national final, then called The Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2011 with the song "Over and Over" coming third to Glen Vella's winning song "One Life" which went onto represent Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 in Duesseldorf, Germany.  

    After Kurt's 2012 Eurovision participation he continued with releasing great music and still does to this day. The Radio International Interview Team is looking forward to have Kurt on the show this week to chat a bit about his Eurovision experience and career.

    Live Interview with Rafał (Poland 2021): The second interview partner on Radio International this week is a guest from the Eurovision Class 2021. Rafał Brzozowski will be representing Poland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 in Semi Final 2 with the song "The Ride".  Europe could see Rafał co-hosting the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2020 last November from Warsaw in Poland. His career started in the Voice of Poland 2011. Well established in the Polish music scene over the years he released 5 albums, 2 EPs and 17 singles.

In the Run-Up to the World's biggest music competition Radio International - The Ultimate Eurovision Experience is inviting the artists from the Eurovision Class of 2021 and after Blind Channel from Finland, Jendrik from Germany and Tornike Kipiani from Georgia, Radio International is pleased to have the next act from the Eurovision Class 2021 - GO_A.  The Ukrainian group was already selected in 2020 to represent the Ukraine at the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Solovey". Sadly the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 was cancelled due to the Corona Pandemic. However, GO_A are selected again to represent Ukraine in 2021 with the song "Noise". Radio International will be chatting with the members of the group on this week's edition of Radio International.
