It must be election time. A politician has had a six billion dollar brainstorm and got the network news stations together, calls it a policy. Problem is it's preposterously unworkable and almost anyone can see that but it's about EVs, so the media sucks it all up and regurgitates it because electric cars are, clearly, mankind's salvation.
