Over the last few years, QANTAS has become a toxic brand in the eyes of Australians - and for good reason. The illegal sackings, the price gouging, the blaming of passengers for logistical f*ck ups. This week, The Betoota Advocate talks to the man who had detailed this catastrophic downfall. Joe Aston’s ‘The Chairman’s Lounge’ is one of the most explosive books of the year - detailing the scandals and drama of Australia’s once favourite airlines.

Jaydon Martin is one of Australia's most exciting new directors following his debut feature film Flathead. Set in the town of Bundaberg, this docufiction explores regional Australian life in ways that are equal parts poetic and beautiful as they are harsh and sobering. Jaydon spoke to fellow rural Queenslanders Wendell and Clancy about his inspiration for the film and the audience reception since its release.
Flathead will be screening at select cinemas and festivals over the next two weeks:
Sydney:
The Golden Age Cinema: 23rd of October
Queensland:
Brisbane International Film Festival: 27th of October (with Q&A) & 1st of November
Toowoomba BCC Cinemas "SFF's Travelling Film Festival" : 2nd November (with Q&A) Bundaberg Moncrieff Entertainment Centre: 3rd November (with Q&A)

Queensland-based former CFMEU National President, Jade Ingham joins The Betoota Advocate podcast this week. He's currently removed from his role, as the trade union gets forced into administration by the Albanese Government. Ingham explains what the CFMEU is, what it stands for, and what drew him to the union movement. He argues that the CFMEU has been stitched up by 60 Minutes and the Nine Newspapers - and that all 100,000 plus members feel betrayed by the Labor Party.
