She’s 21 and has checked off a whole list of life goals, from being a TV host, a radio announcer and a frontwoman for a popular band. Her name is Ashley Chan.
Initially, Ashley wanted to be a professional dancer having learnt ballet from the age of four. But unfortunately, she tore a meniscus after a heavy workload of rehearsing for three musicals in succession.
She took it upon herself to focus on her singing and she was picked to be the frontwoman for the local punk band An Honest Mistake. In 2013, it all kicked into high gear as Ashley signed up and won Bella TV’s Official Correspondent search.
As 2014 rolled by, Ashley was picked up as Capital FM’s youngest ever radio announcer on the team. The gig ended in October of this year but that wasn't stopping Ashley. She’s currently working hard with her own music, and appearing in Joanne Kam’s new musical, things are still shining for her.
For the record, Ashley scored 16!

This evening we speak to John Bohannon, a science journalist at the forefront of a reportage genre known as data journalism. Also a molecular biologist at Harvard University, Bohannon’s work has been featured in publications like Science and Wired. In 2013, he wrote an exposé on the peer-review process for scientific journals in the open-access world and earlier this year, he fooled millions into thinking Chocolate Helps Weight loss. We managed to catch up with him in June, at the World Conference of Science Journalists in Seoul, South Korea, where we asked him to give us a brief description of how he went from molecular biology to journalism.
