Luke Skywalker had 2 lightsabers. He had his father's, Anakin Skywalker...until Vader cut his hand off and the weapon with it. Later, he used the journal of Obi-Wan Kenobi to build his own lightsaber. It took a month, but he finally did it, and when he ignited the beautiful green blade, he knew this was his new weapon to defeat Vader and Palpatine.
