This week Aja and Monica are talking about parenting out of guilt. Parenting out

of guilt can be detrimental on so many levels, to both parents and children.

While it may seem like the right move at the time, even loving, making up for

pain or trauma or a traumatic experience, it teaches kids there are no

consequences for behavior, makes parenting harder in the long run. It can teach

kids manipulation and other damaging behaviors as well. In this episode we talk

about our own experiences with parenting out of guilt, what we did to overcome

it, how we are still dealing with it and much more.

Who's ready to talk about menstruation!? No one? Okay, that's the point! Let's

start this conversation!  This week we are going into our opinions on PMS,

periods, the stereotypes that surround these issues, and ideas we have on things

that can change. Are we having enough conversations at home? Why are our kids

shooting tampons off in the school bathrooms? Let's normalize bleeding, let's

normalize talking about our hormones and what happens to so many women every

month (or maybe not every month, some of us aren't regular!).  We need to make

sure our children know periods happen. We need to make sure our significant

others are here to support us in something that can be so emotionally

overwhelming for us.  Let's normalize the fact that sometimes we aren't perfect,

like how the intro to this episode started. Aja is not a fan, but Monica thinks

This episode we are talking about societies expectations placed on females, how

it's changing,  and why that is important. Through the years women have been

placed in a box and have been told they need to be a certain way. While things

are certainly changing, we are still not there yet. 

We are trying to start this conversation on how confusing it is for women, or

those who identify as women, to feel and make decisions because there is so much

conflicting information out there, as well as so much judgement.

Lets talk household chores and how gender roles, or being a stay at home or work

from home parent, plays a role in the division of labor in the home.  We are

going to talk about our own experiences with chores and the division of labor in

our own households, as well as how we work with our families on creating a more

"equal" give and take on different types of chores in the home.  You'll hear how

we work with our kids and significant others and suggestions we have for

creating a more cohesive home life when it comes to working our different

responsibilities in the home.  You'll also get to laugh as we talk about how one

of us isn't allowed to do some chores in the home due to refusing to read the
