  • Ep. 45 Mike Brown 2 - Jiu-Jitsu and our love of The Path and the Process

Mike Brown is a 22 year retired veteran of the Tulsa Police Department. He has been an accomplished athlete becoming a Division I wrestler from Cornell, a national champion in IDPA at the expert level and has made the top 5 in the Master Class division at IDPA nationals. He is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt under Jean Jacq Machado and a world champion at the IBJJF brown belt masters.  He currently teaches Criminal Justice in the Tulsa OK area. With all of these accomplishments likely his best attribute is being an eminently qualified coach.

This show we welcome back Mike to focus on JiuJitsu.  We talk about Mike's journey, his most important mentors in that journey, we hit on some of the frustrations that all of us have including black belts like Mike, and go deeply into the use of video instruction for improvement.  We also talk about Mikes new shooting venture, Steel Challenge.

Evolution Security is Eric Davis, Aaron Davis and Brian Schilt; specializing in self-protection education, defensive pistol and carbine, consulting, and weapons based grappling.  Their mission is to help those serious about protecting themselves and their loved ones, become more capable though filtered information, recommended study, and highlighting their mentors who are the best in the field.   In addition, Eric and Aaron (twins) are musicians keeping with Musashi's adage that martial artist should focus on art outside of the martial (bumper music recorded by the brothers).

  • Ep 38 - Andrew Branca - The Legal Authority on Self Defense Law

This episode we have the preeminent expert of Self Defense Law - Andrew Branca on the show. Arguably the only attorney in the nation that focuses purely on self defense law giving him expertise that all of us should seek. Andrew is also the author of the book, The Law of Self Defense, which will educate you on the principles needed to keep you out of legal trouble. It can not be over emphasized, if you use lethal force you WILL go through some form of legal proceedings, even if it is "cut and dry."  As gun owners the majority of us do not focus on being prepared for the legal fight, this lack of education can certainly affect our lives drastically and can result in spending the rest of our lives in prison.  Also in this episode the crew discusses Legal Assistance memberships and their efficacy.  Lastly, in the accountability section Eric speaks on his recent experience in taking and graduating from the Rangemaster Instructor Development and Certification course.
