On "EWTN News Nightly" tonight: Pope Francis’ first full day in Lisbon for World Youth Day was eventful. His Holiness met with young people with varied faith backgrounds and gave a memorable gift to members of the worldwide Scholas Ocurrentes movement for education. To dig deeper into this and the Holy Father's generous gift, EWTN Vatican Bureau Chief, Andreas Thonhauser, reports. In this same vein, out of the hundreds of thousands of young people in Lisbon, several are from Latin America. Fr. Jeronimo Espinosa, a Colombian priest, sheds light on how the Holy Father’s Argentinian heritage may have influenced the uptick in Latin Americans’ World Youth Day attendance. Meanwhile in the White House, President Biden is calling for the release of Niger’s President, Mohamed Bazoum, and “for the preservation of Niger’s hard-earned democracy.” Our White House Correspondent, Owen Jensen, reports. Over on Capitol Hill, it’s a historic day with four federal criminal charges brought against former President Donald Trump. Reporting from the courthouse is our Capitol Hill Correspondent, Erik Rosales, who gives us an inside look into the state of the matter and what lies ahead. Lastly tonight, the New York City mayor says his city is full after dealing with a surge of migrants. To discuss this situation further is Rodney Scott, former chief of the United States Border Patrol.
