Today we see Jacob stealing Esau's blessing, leading into Esau's rebellion against his parents. Jacob then fleeing to the land of Laban out of fear of being killed. Along the way Yahweh gives him a vision and promises to keep his covenant with Abraham and further it through Jacob's lineage. Finally, Jacob is deceived by Labaan into marrying both of his daughters. Jacob loved the younger over the older, but God blessed the older because she was hated. God's plans seems to always takes, the lowly and the hated, the least likely candidates to magnify his glory and exalt his kingdom.
