Today's reading covers Job's response to Zophar, where he proclaims that the only common thing in life is death. Eliphaz offers his last speech; he claims that Shaddai--the Almighty--does not care about man and accuses Job of committing lofty sins. Finally, Job begins his response, which he will finish in chapter twenty-four. Job maintains his hope that Yahweh will hear him out. He acknowledges that the Almighty does do as He pleases, which brings Job to dread, nonetheless, Job will not stop pleading until Yahweh responds. Job lost sight of the Almighty's personal relationship, he did not know that God was the one who praised Job for following Him, thus Job was scared that God would not hear him out and would continue to let him suffer. We--like Job--forget that God is both Almighty and personal, He does care both about His glory and our wellbeing. That is the reason why He has given us the Bible and that is the ultimate reason He would send His only Son to bear our sins. God is both on high and with us through every moment of every day. Let us rest in this unimaginable reality and trust that no matter what He does, He does it for our good and for His name's sake.
