Exciting and New

This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana welcome Mac back on the podcast to discuss the 1985 shoot 'em up action movie Rambo: First Blood Part II.   In this sequel to the original First Blood, Sly Stallone is a one-man wrecking crew, single-handedly killing more Vietnamese soldiers in one weekend than the entire American military did in a decade during the war. Rambo is sent to Vietnam to rescue some POW's and fall in love along the way.  What could possibly go wrong dating John Rambo?  I'm sure it will be fine.  We had a great time discussing this movie   You will have a great time listening to the podcast.

Jason, Andy and Dana will discuss a 1986 movie weekly, breaking down all the nonsense there within. The 3 hosts all work together and everyone else around them was getting really annoyed at all the movie talk, so they decided to annoy the world in podcast form.

Check out previous seasons to hear them discuss 1982, 1983, 1984 & 1985 movies, as well as a full season of Love Boat episodes (if that is your thing). Plus one-off specials and a weekly mini "what are we watching" podcast.

This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana discuss the 1985 comedy classic Better Off Dead.   In this John Cusack-starring vehicle, we learn that attempted suicide is hilarious, as our star nerd (who is also a great skier and pro sax player) gets dumped by some dope.  He also doesn't realize there is a much hotter foreign exchange student living right across the street from him, being held hostage by Dan Schneider (art imitating life?).  As always, Curtis Armstrong plays a great second banana, with the best lines in the movie.  We all had a blast discussing this one, so please watch the movie first and then listen to the podcast. Enjoy!

This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana kick off 1985 in style, as we welcome first-timer Ron to the podcast to discuss the all-time great Back to the Future.  Ron might not know much, but he sure knows BTTF, and we tap into his knowledge in full and graphic detail.  I could go on for days about this movie, but better yet, listen to the show and hear us ramble on for over an hour about it.  Stick around after the closing music for a special message from one butthead to another.  Enjoy the podcast.

This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana discuss the 1984 holiday slasher flick Silent Night, Deadly Night.  This movie was a big deal back in the day for showing a Santa Claus serial killer, but by today's standards is kind of tame.  It was banned around the world at the time, which, of course, only makes it more of a cult favorite.  This movie has no cast and less of a budget, but it was still fun to watch and celebrate the holidays with mass murder.  This is our special Christmas episode, and the last full episode of 2024.  We had a great time this year discuss all the good, bad and ugly of 1984 and want to thank all of our guests that took time out of their lives to venture to the Exciting and New studio to bring their unique takes on the movies we discussed, and of course thank our listener for all the valuble feedback and downloads.  1985 is already gearing up to be tons of fun, with a full slate of classics ready to be discussed.  We hope you come along for the ride.

This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana welcome Becky back on, while also welcoming first timer, and youngest guest, Collin, to the podcast as we discuss the 1984 horror, comedy, Christmas spectacular Gremlins.  That's right, we aren't all Grinches at the Exciting & New podcast.  We enjoy Christmas too.  Especially when it involves crazy creatures committing mass murder across the town.  This podcast was a long one as we all had so much to say about this all time great movie.  And of course we discuss at length Phoebe Cate's insane story that totally changes the tone of the whole movie.  So sit back, grab a cup of egg nog and enjoy the podcast.  Just remember not to eat anything after midnight
