Exciting and New

Jason, Andy and Dana welcome Anthony back on the podcast as they discuss what they were up to this last week.  Weird Science is coming this Wednesday

Jason, Andy and Dana will discuss a 1986 movie weekly, breaking down all the nonsense there within. The 3 hosts all work together and everyone else around them was getting really annoyed at all the movie talk, so they decided to annoy the world in podcast form.

Check out previous seasons to hear them discuss 1982, 1983, 1984 & 1985 movies, as well as a full season of Love Boat episodes (if that is your thing). Plus one-off specials and a weekly mini "what are we watching" podcast.

This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason. Andy and Dana discuss the 1985 comedy Mischief.   We all emerge from flu exile to a rather bland comedy written by someone who obviously loved James Dean.   Part Grease, part Back to the Future, and no where near as good as either, as we travel back to the 1950s to see Mrs Travolta naked.  And there is the hilight of the movie.   Spoiler alert.   Enjoy the podcast!

Jason, Andy and Dana discuss what they were up to the last couple weeks while they dealt with the flu and a terrible Super Bowl.   Mischief is coming this Wednesday.

This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana were visited by the Super Bowl flu and needed to take a week off from recording, so we have uploaded a 1985 episode we did a few years ago in tribute to the recently deceased Paul Ruebens, Pee Wee's Big Adventure. Hop into the wayback machine and hear how Dana sounds surprisingly like a middle-aged man, and we get a special guest in the form of Logan.  Obviously this one was done with tears in our eyes over Pee Wee's death, but we still had a blast discussing this one.  Everyone is feeling better now in the E&N studio, so we should be up and recording new episodes ASAP.  Enjoy this repeat.

This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana welcome Adrienne and Stacey back on the podcast for the 1985 Rom-Com Desperately Seeking Susan.  In this "knock on the head and forget who you are" flick, we are introduced to Madonna, the street wiser drifter, who attracts the attention of a whole host of people.  And why not?  This is peak Madonna, and everything about her in this movie is why she was smoking hot in the '80s.  Plus, there are a few up and comers in the mix that are about to break big (and in one case, break bad).  This was a great movie to watch, and we certainly get into the groove as we discuss it.  Enjoy the podcast.

This Week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana welcome Daniel back on the show as we discuss the 1985 comedy (?), The Man with One Red Shoe.  Tom Hanks, Dabney Coleman, Charles Durning.  What could go wrong.  This.   This could go wrong.  This movie is supposed to be a comedy, but it has few laughs.  It's supposed to be spy thriller, but has no thrills and the spies are all generic garbage.  We always have fun discussing these movies, even the bad ones, but this one kind of left us all feeling empty.   We still laughed, but maybe not how the creators of this movie wanted us to.  Enjoy the podcast.

This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana welcome Connor back to the show as we discuss the 1985 melodrama St. Elmo's Fire.  Remember all those kids you loved in the Breakfast Club and the Outsiders?  Well, get ready to hate them now as they have grown up to become self-absorbed, entitled yuppie pricks.   This might be the biggest disappointment of all the movies we have done so far on the ol’ E&N podcast.  Demi, and Ally and Judd and Rob and Emilio, and Andrew and that one chick who didn’t make go to great lengths to earn the “who is the worst person award”.   Spoiler alert:  They all tie for first.  Anyway, just because it was a terrible movie doesn’t mean we didn’t have fun ripping it apart (and the hatred for this movie was not universal).  Even the worst Brat Pack movie is fun to discuss.  Enjoy the podcast!
