Exciting and New

This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana welcome Mac back on as we discuss the 1984 Stephen King adaptation Children of the Corn.  That's right.  They took an 8 page short story and made an 11 movie franchise out of that.  And it is apparent from the first movie that they have to stretch things out, as Sarah Connor and some dude drive around for about an hour just looking for trouble as they pad this out to make it a feature length movie.  And the casting call must have said something along the lines of "If you have a strange looking kid, bring him to the audition" cuz there are some strange looking kids in this one.  Anyway, we still had fun disucssing this trainwreck as we continue on with our early Halloween deep dive.   Beware of the Man who walks behind the rows, and enjoy the podcast.

Jason, Andy and Dana will discuss a 1986 movie weekly, breaking down all the nonsense there within. The 3 hosts all work together and everyone else around them was getting really annoyed at all the movie talk, so they decided to annoy the world in podcast form.

Check out previous seasons to hear them discuss 1982, 1983, 1984 & 1985 movies, as well as a full season of Love Boat episodes (if that is your thing). Plus one-off specials and a weekly mini "what are we watching" podcast.

This week on the Exciting and New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana break Adrienne's podcast cherry with the 1984 horror classic, A Nightmare on Elm Street.  That's right!! Halloween is starting in September people.  We have so many good horror movies, we couldn't wait until October to start them.   Anyway, you all know the drill.  Freddy Kruger is haunting kids dreams and if you die in the dream...YOU DIE IN REAL LIFE!!  Scary for kids in their teens.  Sweet release for people in their 50s.  We brought a horror newb on to hear what she thought of all this nonsense and had a great time discusssing this franchise-starter.  And this is just the start for us as well.  Football is kicking off, the kids are back in school, and the Exciting & New podcast is doing a deep dive into all things horror for the next two months.  Enjoy the podcast, and one, two.... Freddy's coming for you.

This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana discuss the "Rock & Roll Fable", Streets of Fire.  In this movie, Cherry Valance is kidnapped by the Green Goblin, and Eddie (from Eddie and the Cruisers) and Dark Helmet (yeah, you read that right) fight to get her back.  This movie has not exactly stood the test of time, but there is something there that isn't half bad.  Unless you are talking about the acting.  It is amazing any of these actors went on to other roles, because if this was your sizzle reel, you ain't getting another job.  Anyway, this ends the summer season for the Exciting & New crew.  We have already lined up a staggering list of movies and guests for the Halloween season, so much so that we need to start in September.  So sit back and give Streets of Fire a listen and get your scary costumes out for next week.  Enjoy the pod!

This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana discuss the 1984 comedy, All of Me.  This Steve Martin vehicle has him sharing a body with Lily Tomlin as they fight to aquire her fortune.  It's kind of funny.  It's kind of not funny.  There are a wide variety of opinions on this one but we still had fun discussing a surprisingly deep cast.  We are fast coming up on our Halloween season where the weather gets cold and the movies get better.  Hold on just a few more weeks.  Enjoy the podcast.

This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana welcome first-timer Stacey to the podcast as we discuss the 1984 fantasy adventure movie, The Neverending Story.  In this kid-friendly film, some kind reads about another kid, as he fetch quests through a bunch of gigantic heads, all to rescue the princess.  I think.  This is my first time and I'm an old man.  Sometimes I get confused.  Anyway, we had a great time discussing this with our first-timer, and we answered the age-old question:  Does the story end?   Spoiler...it does.  In about 90 minutes.  But we had fun, and you will have fun too if you watch the movie and listen to the podcast.  Enjoy!
