Exciting and New

This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana take trip down under and discuss the 1984 heist (?) movie BMX Bandits.  Nicole Kidman is in this one, and that is it for the cast.  A bunch of kids ride their bikes around and the bad guys can't get out of their own way as the bumble around after the kids.  Of course, these kids do bike downhill A LOT.  Is Sydney built on the side of a mountain?  We are in the dog days of summer here, folks.  Halloween is right around the corner though, and we will have some bangers planned when that rolls around.  Just suck it up and deal with it until then.  At least we make light of a lame situation.  Enjoy the podcast.

Jason, Andy and Dana will discuss a 1986 movie weekly, breaking down all the nonsense there within. The 3 hosts all work together and everyone else around them was getting really annoyed at all the movie talk, so they decided to annoy the world in podcast form.

Check out previous seasons to hear them discuss 1982, 1983, 1984 & 1985 movies, as well as a full season of Love Boat episodes (if that is your thing). Plus one-off specials and a weekly mini "what are we watching" podcast.

This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana discuss the 1984 spy adventure movie Cloak & Dagger.  We did a 180 on our summer of sexploitation and are now focusing on some of the kid friendly movies of the year.  This one stars the kid from E.T. following up that masterpiece with...this.  Sophomore Slump?  Possibly.  The recently late Dabney Coleman plays the imaginary friend AND father to our star and none of that makes sense.  This kid has huge daddy issues.  This movie centers around a video game hiding secret plans, as most movies in the 80s did.   But of course, the main reason we are doing this movie is because it was filmed in San Antonio, and one of the hosts of the E&N podcast just so happen to be in SA during the filming of the movie.   There is a chair lift in the background of one scene that just might house this host.  Should they have a imdb page based on this?   They sure think so.  Enjoy the pod.

This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana get back into their podcast hotrod and join in on all the road race nonsense that is the Cannonball Run 2.  This sequel to the 1981 comedy (also reviewed by the E&N crew) brings back all the things we liked about the first one (Burt and Dom, Sammy and Dean, etc.) and bring in more legendary goodness. Frank Sinatra, Ricardo Montalban, and CHARLES NELSON RILEY are along for the ride.  Tony Danza gets into a battle of wits with an Orangutan.  There is also a secret Godfather sequel happening within this movie.  I could keep rattling off all the awesomeness that is this movie, but better than that, why don’t you watch the movie and then listen to the podcast.  Enjoy.

This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana welcome Zach back on the podcast as we discuss the 1984 ski "comedy" Hot Dog...The Movie.   You see, they had to put "The Movie" in the title of the movie, or you would have mistaken this for just a Saturday morning, Wild World of Sports episode.  This "movie", such as it is, features our favorite American werewolf, and Gene Simmons' wife plus a bunch of has-beens, never-were, nobodies hitting the slopes for...reasons?  There is some kind of plot there, but really this movie is all about ski montages, and naked ladies, which is not as fun as you might think.  This might be the most universally despised movie E&N crew has reviewed.  But we watched it for you.  So you don’t have to.  But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t listen to the podcast.  Enjoy!

This week on the Exciting & New Podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana welcome Mike right back on the podcast, since we cut him off on Star Trek, to discuss the 1984 sex comedy Bachelor Party.  That's right, we have started our Summer of Sex with this Tom Hanks masterpiece.  Before he was Gump, and before he was one of those other guys he played for Oscar bait, he was just some horned up guy trying to have a good time with his friends.  He is actually quite the jerk.  Tawny Kitaen, who's claim to "fame" was dating the dude from the lamest rock band of the 80s, and dating Jerry in Seinfeld (who didn't?) is the object of everyone's desire.  The rest of the cast is mostly a miss (Adrian Zmed?  Meh), but this movie will forever answer the question of how far a body can fall naked, land in a moon roof, and survive.  The answer might surprise you.  Enjoy the podcast!

This week on the Exciting & New Podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana welcome Mike back on the show as we discuss the 1984 Sci-fi borefest Star Trek 3 - The Search for Spock.  Everyone who knows anything knows the odd numbered Trek movies ain't that great, and Part 3 is no exception.  It's not terrible, but nothing really happens either.  Dr. Brown is brought along on this mission as the big bad Klingon, and Kirstie Allen couldn't bother to come back as Savak, so they had to recast.  Anyway, all this is to say that something happened during the recording of this podcast and the last half of the show got cut off.  Production issues are nothing new (or exciting) to this podcast, but we are all kind of getting sick of it.  Maybe it is time to fire the current producer and bring on someone better.  Enjoy what you can of this podcast.  The summer of sex starts next week with Bachelor Party and we come out of the gates strong.
